I will call 7 sp straight up when I want misere. I will call my best suit at the 7 call. To confuse you even more, sometimes I don't call the ace I have in my hand as I want to know where aces are and bird as I would have a very good hand Hope that makes sense. Sometimes I sneak there using 7spades(if i have a ok spades) but I wont mind being left on it when bidding it if its obviously not a call off an ace or bird. (ie my P bids 6hearts, opp bids 6nt, and I bid 7spades) 7 spades after a partners ace or bird call could be strength or a call off, but never is it soley for mis with me. And to make things more confusing, I sometimes sneak to mis with a 6nt call, hoping my P will call me off it and i can take mis (so beware if i hit mis after 6nt that I may not have the bird). I do try to limit this as much as possible though. So really If I bid 7spades as either strength or a call off and my P has rubish, it is safe to leave me on it (140 is cheap if we have rubish) Kayleen (member) Oops sorry StevieG - ChrisG???? haha! BUT....depending on the score I might call 6nt to get misere (when I know the bids are going to be high and the opposition needs to block - or close to it. This is a good spanner in the works for the opposition considering 8 or higher if I "say" I have the bird. Ahr, One of the better player that used to play on this site - "Daffy" used to love tactics like that.
